When it comes to the twisted world of dating and relationships, there are truly no rules. Traditional gender roles suggest that men should be the aggressors and reach out to a lady they’re interested in. But in 2018, things are taking a different turn, and women are boldly securing the men they want like never before.
Not sure how to do that? Here are a few guidelines to get you started.
1. Never assume you don’t have a chance:
There’s no greater harm than talking down on yourself before making a move on someone. You lose hope on a journey that hasn’t even begun, and your lack of confidence just might show through your messages, body language, and overall character. Rid your mind of all the negative thoughts, breathe, and just go for it. Besides, the worst that he can say is “no.”
2. Learn how to interpret messages:
If you happen to follow your crush on social media, chances are you’ve probably thought of leaving a comment on his photo or sliding into his DMs with a flattering remark.
However, it is very important to understand how to interpret messages and respond to them accordingly. If the person you’re complimenting bluntly replies with just a “thank you,” or “aww” — then it’s more than likely that they’re not looking to continue a conversation with you. At this point, just leave the “thank you” at that and carry on with your day, ladies. The same applies to a nonchalant apology when he replies late.
If any man truly interested in you, he will send another message and try to carry on with the conversation.
3. Don’t overdo it!
It’s okay to try to be creative when shooting your shot. But if cracking a good joke as an introduction isn’t your forte, for the love of all that is holy, don’t force it! Play it safe and initiate a conversation however you deem is best. Be yourself and keep it simple at first, because no man likes a pushy woman.
A flirty glance, a friendly smile or a simple hello may be all that’s necessary to get his attention. Never get too excited, and remember not to confuse his friendliness with flirting. Take things one step at a time, and let your comfort with him climb gradually.
4. Remember the little things
Thoughtfulness goes a long way when trying to get yourself a man.
Being engaging and interested in what your date has to say is a key part of flirting. If you remember small details about their stories, you can bring them up later and maybe even tease them a little about it. They will be flattered that you remembered what they said to you in the past, and teasing can be a great way to flirt and spark some excitement.
