Should unmarried couples go on vacation while celibate?
There is no one size fits all approach. There are couples who have successfully vacationed together and maintained celibacy. On the other hand, there are couples who choose not to venture into this terrain at all.
The major argument against vacationing while celibate is to avoid temptation. While the counter argument – couples face temptation all the time, especially when they are accustomed to hanging out privately, a vacation does not present a threat to their commitment to celibacy.
Vacationing together means you get to plan the trip together. You get to know a little bit more about each other. You may get stuck in troubled situations together and practice problem solving together, get more of an insight to the real temperament of your partner. However, do you really need a vacation to figure this out? Is this something prayer can address? “Ask and you shall receive…”
